DART Green Line

Yes, yes, I know it's been forever since I posted anything. Sorry!

Well, we had a rainy weekend here in the Dallas area. That doesn't stop us from getting outside and seeing new things.

Saturday was the opening celebrations of DART's (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) new green line expansion. This new line will eventually head all the way out to Carrollton and Rominal is really looking forward to that opening up. It will cut his commute time down quite a bit. Rominal loves riding on DART - it makes him feel so urban, which we don't get to feel much here in Texas.

Here's me and Bailey - before we were completely soaked.

At each of the 4 new stops, they had different things to do and see. Deep Ellum's stop had some great sculptures.

Here's Bailey at the base of this one - so you can see how big it really is.

This guy was playing a guitar. I don't think his eyes really light up, I think my flash just caught it that way - but it looks cool.

I just loved these birds.

We stopped and listened to a great band while at this stop as well. That was fun.
It was so overcast and rainy that we could barely see the tops of the buildings in downtown Dallas.

The stop at Baylor Hospital had a new coffee shop, and they were handing out free cotton candy. Couldn't pass that up. Plus a cup of coffee hit the spot.

They were also handing out green apples to promote good health habits.

I made a apple crisp with them last night, probably not what they intended us to do with the apples, but oh well. It was yummy.

The next stop was Fair Park. We will most likely take the green line to the state fair when it opens up in a couple of weeks, so we wanted to check it out and see where it took us.

The final stop was the MLK station. One of the displays there was for adopting dogs. Bailey got to pet an adorable dog, so she was quite happy.

By the time we were ready to go home we were drenched and cold. Luckily for Rominal, the water just beads up and goes right off of him. However, his jacket was completely soaked.

There were cameras and people taking video at each stop, so Saturday night we scoured the internet looking for articles or pictures from the event and we didn't find anything. We watched our local news and they had a very quick story about the celebration and in one shot you can see us walking past. We were quite pleased. Never mind that you can barely make out who we are - we know it was us. We enjoyed our 15 minutes of fame.
