My new ride!

For the last 7 years, this has been my ride.

It's been a great car/van. We have made many wonderful trips and memories in this van. It has served us very well.

But, Bailey is getting older and will be driving soon. We will eventually let Bailey drive our Honda CR-V and Rominal will drive the van. So, that meant I needed to get a new car.

Meet my new Honda Pilot!

We brought it home last night.

One of the things I wanted was to be up a bit higher than my van, and you can see the Pilot is slightly higher up.

I have the next 7 years to learn what all of these buttons do. It also responds to voice commands, should I get tired of pushing buttons. Hee hee - love that!

Rominal is checking out the cargo area.

Bailey will appreciate the window shades during Texas summers.

My van had seats for 7 people, while the Pilot has seats for 8. The people in the third row have to be really small or really good friends though.

I often have that many people in my car for work lunches, so that was important to me.

Here's Rominal checking out the third row seats.

I actually woke up really early this morning, just to go for a ride in my new car. Of course, I made good use of my trip and got Starbucks while I was out too.

Have a great day!

Where am I?

Today I am traveling for work. Rominal and Bailey are traveling with me because we are driving somewhere. Tomorrow while I am working, they will get to play in the city while I visit with the warehouse in this city.

Just to amuse myself, I thought I'd play a little game with you.

Where in the world am I? Well, I'll narrow it down for you. Where in the United States am I?

Here's some hints. I live in Texas so I will let you know I started from there.

We drove for a little bit and then stopped here for some breakfast and fried pies. I had seen a newspaper article about this place and I wanted to try them.

The Fried Pie Company was across the street from this courthouse.

Here's my fried pie. It was coconut and it was wonderful.

Later in the day (remember, we drove all day today) we passed this place. It looked like it was closed.

We saw this sign, which I thought was kinda funny, since it was an actual truck.

And we drove by a ton of corn or whatever crop this is.

This state numbers their bridges. I was counting them as we went under them. This was number 11.105 in case that helps you determine where we are.

As soon as Rominal found out that we would be going where we are, he looked up this place on the internet and got directions. It was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on FoodTV on Sunday.

I had the 1/2 chicken and it was wonderful.

Rominal had the slab of ribs.

I think he liked them - what do you think?

Let me know if you can guess where we are.

Las Vegas

Rominal and I are leaving for Las Vegas (or Las Vegas Baby!) in a couple of days to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Hard to believe it's been that long. Our anniversary isn't until next week, but this is a good weekend to go.

Anyway, I'm starting to get very excited about the trip. However, trips also cause me a bit of panic as well. Especially when we are not driving and I am required to carefully plan out my clothing choices instead of just tossing everything I own into my van. I don't like having to plan what I'm going to wear each day. What happens if I wake up and decide that what I have packed for myself is just all wrong? Then what am I going to do? Oh - I know - I'll go shopping! That's a good plan, because I'm sure all of the prices will be reasonable in Vegas, right! HA!

We aren't gamblers, and we don’t drink either - at least I hardly ever do, and Rominal never does - although he has mentioned that he might have a drink while we are there. Yup, that's right, Rominal might have a drink. There is no doubt that we will be living it up in Vegas! We even played some practice rounds of blackjack the other night. Normally when we play with friends the object of the game for me becomes steeling chips from the dealer and switching bets with other players. I'm pretty good at it. (It helps that the people we normally play with do like to drink.) From what I understand, I think this kind of play is frowned upon in Las Vegas. So, much to my surprise, when I actually played by the rules the other night - I lost very quickly. Vegas should love me.

Rominal loves all of the action and lights and therefore he wants to see all of the casinos, so we will be doing lots of walking. He really wants to ride the rides on top of the Stratosphere. He's on his own for that. I might go up to the top of the building with him, but there is no way I'm riding this. Here's one of the rides, to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

And here's another one. Again, I will not be doing this.

Again, there is no way I'm doing this.

Guess what my car did today?

Look what my car did today! It went from this:

To this:

Sorry these pictures aren't very clear - they were taken with my cell phone. And, not to worry, Rominal was driving when I took the pictures.

It's hard to believe my van has reached 100,000 miles. It's been a long time since I had a car reach that high in mileage. It's been a good car for us, so I hope to see 200,000 miles in the future.
